Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving we enjoyed time with some of Tara's extended family at a camp in the mountains of NC. It's a beautiful spot, and provided a relaxing couple of days.

Walmart Weirdos

What's up with all the weird people at Walmart? We went shopping tonight, all three of us. Tara was shopping while Paton & I were simply trying to have a nice evening. He was standing in the cart while I was pushing it down an empty aisle at a full-sprint speed. Then, we went to the frozen food aisle. I opened the end freezer and put the cart up to the open door. I left Paton & the cart there, while I ran to the other end. I opened the door of the freezer at the other end, and we both stuck our heads in and were making faces at each other. The ironic thing was that all the weird people were giving us odd looks. What is this world coming to when the normal people (like us) are looked at like a bunch of weirdos.

12 Years of Great Dates

12 years ago this weekend we began dating. That first date was at BJU, she was a senior, I was only in my second year. We went to a concert that night, I was nervous, she was confident. I don't remember everything about that night, but I do know that it was the beginning of a fantastic blessing from the Lord. I am so grateful for the wife the Lord has given me. We have had some great dates in 12 years. Thanks Sweetheart for making dating so much fun!

Hayride Activity

Tonight, we had a teen activity with 30 teens from the church. We went on a 50 minute hayride, then did smores around a campfire. Paton loved the tractor that pulled the huge wagon. It was neat to see him in that environment.

Give of thy sons...

Last night we were on the way to our prayer meeting at church. Paton was talking in the back seat about a variety of topics. He then piped up with his future plans. He told us, "I want to be a missionary." When we asked him why he wanted to be a missionary, he said, "so I can tell people about Jesus." It reminds us of the huge responsibility we have to point him to our Savior. We are so thankful for the examples he has had the opportunity to be around. Dr. Tim Keesee visited in our home recently, and Paton also has a couple of uncles who have directed his young mind toward this kingdom work. So, it sounds like he is all set for the mission field, now we just have to wait for him to get saved!
